Thanks to everyone’s thankfulness Facebook posts, I have
also been reflecting on the things that make me grateful.
I am thankful that I wake up every morning in this beautiful
house, in a warm bed, with lots of pillows and the man of my dreams lying next
to me. I am grateful for my energizer
bunny Meg who greets me every morning thrilled to start the day- with a smile,
a “boo” and big hug. I am grateful for
Sly Shea, who sneaks around the corner to greet us as if we didn’t know there
was such a sweetie lurking there. I am
thankful for half asleep Alexa’s big hugs.
I appreciate that every morning there is hot coffee and usually flavored
creamer.
I am grateful that all of my problems are 1st
world problems… and 99.9% of those are the problems of a person with a
beautiful warm house, lots of food, healthy children and way too much time to
worry about things that don’t matter in the end. I am grateful for full moons and orange
sunsets… for fall foliage and cool evenings.
I appreciate that I have parents I can call at any time with
any problem… but I usually don’t, b/c those problems are just 1st
world problems that won’t matter in the long run.
I love my siblings, their significant others, and their
children even if I don’t see them enough or get the opportunity to understand
what goes on in their lives. I am
thankful that I am blessed with friends that I do get to see and who serve as
extended family to our family. That I
have neighbors and former neighbors and almost neighbors that are willing to
share, borrow, bring, loan, drop off necessities – be that prosecco or
lemons.
There’s a host of little things I appreciate: to do lists, chocolate, wine (wait that’s not
little), sharp pencils, felt tip pens, children’s art, holiday catalogs. I love that I live in a vibrant city with
yummy restaurants, cozy coffee shops, busy malls, vibrant arts and exciting
sports franchises.
I am thankful that this is my life.
